Kiboga Disabled Persons Union, (KIDIPU) is an Umbrella Organization that brings together Organizations and Associations of persons with disabilities operating in Kiboga District, currently totaling to 15 Organizations. KIDIPU operates in all the 8 Sub-Counties that form Kiboga District.
KIDIPU was established in 1995 with the aim of advocating and lobbying for the equalization of opportunities for PWDs in Kiboga District. KIDIPU derives it’s mandate from the Sub-county based disability associations representing groups of Disabled Persons and individuals in the Sub-counties.
Presently, KIDIPU has built a strong foundation for effective advocacy and lobbying strategies, political representation and programme infrastructure that reaches to the Sub-county level.
Under the umbrella of KIDIPU, persons with disabilities in Kiboga District have formed associations of different disability categories. These include association of persons with physical disabilities, association of the blind, association of the deaf, association of parents of children with intellectual disabilities, association of persons with brain injury and the association of the Albinos. The aim has been to create a combined voice and be able to make concerns and needs of the different disability categories to be known by the decision makers.
KIDIPU’s Vision is “Quality standard of living for People with Disabilities”.
KIDIPU’s Mission is “to influence policies and service delivery in favour of Persons with Disabilities through concerted efforts of all stakeholders”.
